Location
Casona Rio Fortuna is located 7km outside of La Fortuna. The impressive Casona Río Fortuna country estate has always been a landmark of the San Carlos area. In the past, Casona Río Fortuna used to be a temporary accommodation for job-seekers coming to the area with their families. Until they found a job in a local sawing mill, cattle ranch, dairy farm or the woods, the owners accommodated them at the casona.
Now the casona offers cosy and affordable country-style accommodation. The simple yet clean accommodations are furnished in a rustic style and remind of long-gone times when tired workers had a break under the same roof, enjoying the peace and tranquility of this very special place. The proximity to the famous Tabacón Hot Springs Resort is just another good reason for this location.
Language
The class will be held in English. Basic understanding of simple spoken English is necessary.
Arrival
Participants must arrive on the first day of the workshop by 10:00 am. Because of the location, an arrival the evening before is recommended if you are coming from further away. You might also want to extend your stay past the last day of the workshop to explore the area.
Transportation
Arenal / La Fortuna is a popular tourist destination and easy to reach. If you are coming from outside of Costa Rica, you will need to fly into San Jose International Airport (SJO).
You will receive additional contact information and telephone numbers in Costa Rica once you have registered.
Flying
Both Sansa Air and Nature Air fly from San Jose International Airport (SJO) into Arenal La Fortuna. These are small aircraft so please be aware that there are baggage weight restrictions and surcharge for overweight bags. It is about a 30-minute flight.
Driving on your own
You can rent a car in San Jose but be aware that mandatory insurance is often not disclosed and can exceed the amount of the rental. One way rentals are possible with an additional fee. We do not recommend renting a car.

Sleeping
The intensive is designed to be a residential retreat which means that participants stay at the retreat as part of the workshop experience, building a community of friends while learning and practicing together. For this purpose accommodation is simple but functional with shared quarters in double rooms with two single beds.
Meals
Meals are prepared onsite and include breakfast, lunch and dinner with a focus on fresh, wholesome and healthy ingredients. Vegetarian (lacto-ovo) options will be provided. Teas, water and fruit is available throughout the day.
